BAYAN MUNA TELLS PRES. DUTERTE TO STOP EMULATING LATE DICTATOR MARCOS

Bayan Muna party-list Representative Carlos Isagani Zarate on Monday told President Rodrigo Duterte to stop emulating late dictator Ferdinand Marcos who they claimed to be an ultra-fascist and anti-people.

This was after President Rodrigo Duterte's announcement of his plan to finally terminate the peace talks by declaring the New People's Army (NPA) as terrorists and his plan of crackdown against the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan supposedly for colluding with the rebels.

Zarate said the implementation of Martial Law in Mindanao and the continuing spate of extra-judicial killings and alleged human rights violations in the Philippines made it appear that President Duterte is taking the fascist road even farther.

Thus, he urged the chief executive and the National Democratic Front (NDF) to return to the negotiating table and continue the substantive agenda that will address the root cause of armed rebellion.
